Rossi leads the way in WSR – Sorta...

Former ART Grand Prix GP3 Standout, hopeful GP2 competitor and Formula One aspirant - American Alexander Rossi has apparently taken a different path towards the F1 limelight, having jumped to the World Series by Renault this year with  Fortec Motorsport as I was unaware that the Yank was leading the Championship going into Round-2 at Spa Francorchamps after having scored a win and runner-up finish during the first weekend’s competition at Motorland Aragon Park.

And I was also wondering where had “The Young Wicky,” a.k.a. Robert Wickens gone off too? As unknownst to Mwah, the former Formula 2 ‘KuhNuck Standout was actually on Pole for race one at Motorland – ultimately finishing runner-up to winner Rossi.

Ironically – Rossi & Wickens were teammates last year in GP3 before taking the step to their respective WSR teams, having split the first two weekend’s outings Facetime upon the top step of the podium...

And Wickens has his work cut out for him with Jean-Eric Vergne; NOT to be confused with Jean Karl Vernay, the reigning Indy Lights champion, who’s sadly missing from the ‘BigCarz, nee IndyCar currently... As Jean-Eric is another hopeful Red Bull Junior Driver Prodigy hoping to make it to the Big Leagues shortly – whilst being Wickens teammate at Carlin...

Meanwhile Rossi’s just sampled another Formula 1 racecar, this time a Team Lotus chassis upon the streets of Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur (early April) as part of his being appointed to the Team Lotus Driver Academy. (Driver Development Programme...)

Yet Rossi will face some stiff competition in WSR this year in the form of Wickens, Vergne and the other WSR ‘Boyz – and thus, since I don’t follow the World Series by Renault or know all of its current talent, perhaps? I can get Ryan of JOWT to do the Heavy Lifting and preview Rossi & Co’s, i.e.; Vernae, Wickens, etc impending ’Twenty-eleven WSR Championship battles, eh? Seeing how I’ve already missed Round’s 1-2; CRIKEYS! Although I do now know that Wickens won at Spa – so it appears the score is knotted 1-1 ‘KanaDuh vs. USA; Hya!
