Hinchcliffe’s impressive IndyCar debut

Cannot exactly say why I’m so enamored by the Mayor ‘O Hinchtown, but I’m definitely “GEEKED” over the young ‘Kuhnadiun’s performance this weekend at the Barber, nee Barber Motorsports Park. 

James Hinchcliffe:
“For the first day on the job as an Indy car driver getting a top-10 in practice for the Sprott car is pretty good,"

 "I think there is a little bit more time in it but it's just so competitive. I sit here and think 'Man, I wish we could be a couple of spots higher' and then I look at the names of the guys who are a couple of spots higher and think 'No wait, I shouldn't be anywhere near this.' The racer in me wants a little bit more but realistically I think the Sprott team had a really good first day. Thank you to the team for all of the hard work today."

Those were the words spoken by Hinch after topping off Friday’s second practice with a ninth place finish, so I can only imagine his thoughts upon uncorking an eighth place in qualifying, eh? As who’da thunk-it? Dario “REO Speedwagon” Franchitti being the meat in a Newman Haas Racing sandwich; aye Karumba! As James elder teammate (Oriel) “Suitcase” Servia pipped the Scotsman for the Fast Sixes final slot, ultimately qualifying P6, with Dario seventh and Hinch P8. As I can only imagine the adrenaline, euphoria and butterflies flowing through Hinch as he lines up alongside the three-time and reigning IndyCar Champion on the outside of Row-4 for the green flag...
