IndyCar notes

Just a few quick tidbits from around the Blogosphere, as we’re set to see the finale of the 2008 Indy Car Championship at Chicagoland resplendent with 28 entries... With the additions of Scheckter and “Frankenstein,” Pacific Coast Motorsports back on the beach, “Milka-licious” and Mr. Gerritol ready to rain on Scotty “Got Milk”” Dixon’s parade...

Fisher returnsOOPS! I almost forgot about Sarah Fisher, who’s making her team’s final appearance of the season at Chicagoland this weekend. Although Sarah wasn’t fastest, as always, she did a fantastic job qualifying up front and hopefully will go wheel to wheel with the Princess once again tomorrow...

Tagliani set at ConquestVenerable Canadian driver Alex Tagliani, who filled in for the injured Enrique Bernoldi at Detroit, has now been confirmed to pilot the #36 Conquest Racing entry in the Indy Car’s final two events; Chicagoland and Surfers Paradise.

TAG also brings a new infusion of dinero to Eric Bachelart’s squad with personal sponsors Ubisoft and Sennheiser, as Ubisoft will adorn the sidepod and Sennheiser will be on the engine cowling, as speculation suggests that this could lead to Tagliani driving full time for Conquest in 2009? Which makes sense as there will be two Canadian rounds on the Indy Car calendar next year with currently no word on Mr. Chrome Horn’s (Paul Tracy) plans for next year.

Perera to returnFranck Perera, or “Frankenstein” as My Name is IRL enjoys calling him, will drive the #41 AJ Foyt entry at Chicagoland season finale, alongside Darren “Danger Mouse” Manning, in what appears to be a possible addition for a ride with Super Tex’s team in ’09?

Hmm? I thought that ‘Ol Super Tex didn’t like “Frog’s?”
Where’s Vitor going?According to Indy Racing Revolution, there’s rumours of “Boobie Ruble,” a.k.a. Bobby Rahal’s team expanding to a two car effort for 2009 and that perhaps this would be the best fit for Vitor Meira, who’s previously driven for the team... Yet, as Indiana Bureau Chief Danny B has been quick to point out, there’s probably a lack of sponsorship currently at RLR, since it appears Bobby and Dave (Letterman) a la The Cheepster (Chip Ganassi( don’t wish to put out any more of their personal finances then possible...

(Yet, I'm still guessing Vitor will wind up at HVM in a second chassis?)

Yet it’s interesting how the number of minnow’s, a.k.a. Single Car entities are looking to double their efforts for 2009. Perhaps it’s the lure ‘O a Really-Really-Really Big series sponsor and unlimited quantities ‘O Franks Energy Drinks to wash down ‘dem Subway foot longs, eh?

Squeeze Job?
And with all of the potential team expansions, not to mention how TCGR has Alex Lloyd on retainer... It’s entertaining to ponder if this is simply the nature of the beast? Or is it a clever way of forcing Marty “Gerritol” Roth to finally hang up his crash bucket? As it seems only a matter of time any ways, eh? So Marty, for God’s sake... Let Jay Howard have a proper chance next year!
