Tornado Hits John force Racing, Brownsburg and Indiana

Aerial view of EF-2 category Twister that left it’s indelible mark upon locals in Indiana.

No Fenders Offical’ Photographer Carpets’ alerted me to the news regarding the tornado that struck Brownsburg, Indiana and other nearby areas of Fishers, Carmel, etc.

Many homes and businesses were damaged, and some presumably destroyed during the tornado that struck around 9:40PM Wednesday night. With winds reportedly reaching a peak velocity of 120mph!

An Industrial Park along I-74 in Brownsburg was in the path of the tornado, knocking down a Sur La Table warehouse, along with damaging a nearby O’Reilly’s warehouse. Including tossing semi-truck trailers around like rag dolls at the O’Reillys Distribution Center!

Brownsburg is home to many NHRA teams, where unfortunately John force Racing’s (JHR) facility wasn’t spared in the destructive wake of the tornado. For which the following image supposedly shows damage to their shop’s roof.

Ironically, when awaiting for the United States Grand Prix MotoGP race from Austin, Texas to finally be shown on FS1 last Sunday evening. I had Thy Telie’ turned on and happened to catch “Fast Jack” Beckman win the NHRA Winter Nationals at Pomona, CA. Before hearing Beckman triumphantly noting how He was part of nine drivers who’d won 143 times and the “boss” John force had won 157 times to give JFR it’s 300th Funny Car win, Staggering!

As it sounds like it will take a long time for Brownsburg and the rest of those impacted in Indiana to rebuild and restore their premises…

HYDROS: H1 Unlimited Roars onto Backstretch of 2023 Season

As Hopefully, the final two races won’t be as Wild ‘N Wooly as the first two!

It’s really Hard for me to discern if the H1 Unlimited Hydroplane series is still a popular event or just treading water these days? As how many of Y’all know that the 2023 season is already halfway done?

Since just mere days before the start of the season in Alabama. The series publicly responded to San Diego’s postponement of this year’s Bayfair regatta due to incurring steep increases in production costs. With the organizers of the long running event featuring the Bill Muncey Cup claiming they planned to return next year.

And although the series was hopeful of eight Unlimited Hydroplane boats showing up for the Lake Guntersville Southern Cup on June 25th, only seven Hydros made the trek to Alabama.

And whilst the series has a new Broadcast partner, being available on Speed Sports One Motorsports Network, whatever that is? I prefer just “watching”, Err listening to the final Heat via H1 Unlimited’s Youtube channel.

Yet unbeknownst to Mwah, this year’s Southern Cup Final Heat was cancelled due to inclement weather. Yet the Final began before the impending Thunderstorm arrived. But due to one of the competitors Flipping! The race was cancelled since Thunder ‘N Lightning would arrive shortly afterwares.  With the day’s winner being awarded on overall weekend points.

Next, with the Madison regatta just a week later, two Hydros’ failed to show due to damage that couldn’t be repaired in time to at least one of the participants. Meaning only five Big Boyz’ Hydroplane’s showed up at Madison’s Ohio river for the July 2nd event.

And then I “Rinsed, lathered and Repeated”. When a week later, Lightning struck twice! Since once again, I searched Youtube repeatedly in vain! As the Madison Governor’s cup final was also scratched due to inclement weather after another Blowover incident during the final Heat, before more bad weather was expected to arrive again…

And with that, the Unlimiteds roar down the Backstretch to the final two races in my former Home state of Washington, with Seattle’s Seafair race hosting this year’s APBA Gold cup event August 6th.

Hopefully the entire field of a promising nine Hulls will make the drive over to Eastern Warshington’ for the upcoming Tri-Cities Columbia  Cup on July 30th.  Since several teams are located in the Seattle Metropolitan area.

With the U-1 Miss HomeStreet, U-3 Miss Griggs Hardware, U-8 Beacon Electric, U-9 Beacon Plumbing, U-11 Legend Yacht Transport, U-21 Lakeridge Paving, U-40 Bucket List Racing, U-91 Miss Goodman Real Estate and U-440 Boitano Homes All being listed as possible season entries upon the series official website.

Yeah, I know it’s been the HAPO Columbia Cup for a longtime now, but I prefer to think of the event in it’s more appropriate name of the Atomic Cup instead! With the race known by this moniker from it’s inception in 1966 thru 1972, due to it’s proximity of some place called Hanford. Where weapons grade Plutonium was made for the Manhattan project during World War II and thru the Cold War.

As the prestigious APBA Gold Cup event has been held at Tri-cities five times overall. With such luminaries as Dean Chenoweth, George Henley, Bill Muncey, Chip Hanauer and Jimmy Shane having won on the Mighty Columbia.

Meanwhile, Seattle has hosted the APBA Gold cup 14 times by my reckoning, the second most Post War following the Cup’s spiritual home of Detroit. Until either the late 1960’s or early 1970’s, since I cannot find an exact date when regulations changed.

As the Gold Cup race was then held at the previous year’s winner’s choice, ergo Home course. Seeing Seattle host the Gold Cup for five straight years between 1951-55, after Ted Jones and His revolutionary Miss Slo-Mo-Shun IV shocked the Boating world upon winning the 1950 event in Detroit With the Slo-Mo-Shun IV and V Hydroplanes capturing the next four Gold Cups!.

After returning to Detroit for 1956, Seattle held the event from 1957 to 1959. Then the race migrated to Las Vegas on Lake Mead, with no race being contested due to high winds.

Then firmly known as The “Jet City”, due to some ‘lil Aeroplane concern called Boeing. Seattle held the race in 1962, 1965 and 1967. Seven years later, and sandwiched between it’s Eastern neighbors Tri-Cities two events, the Gold Cup was back in Seattle for 1974.

The Gold Cup didn’t return to the shores of Lake Washington until 1981, and then hosted it’s penultimate race some Gory 38 years ago in 1985, Eureka!

Whilst Ye legendous’ Gold Cup didn’t return to Washington State overall for another three decades, before being held on the Columbia River at Tri-cities in 2015. Being the first time held in Eastern Washington since Gory 1984

As can my favourite Unlimited driver Andrew Tate add His name for a second time to match His father Mark’s two Gold Cup triumphs this August?

Or will Cory Peabody claim His second Gold Cup victory in-a-row? With teammate J. Michael Kelly saying not so fast Cory. I’m planning to win my second Gold Cup this year!

As these three Skipper’s are the only current Gold Cup winners in this year’s field. With three rookies looking to make the finals. Whilst I Don’t even want to contemplate what the “Over/Under” on how many Blowovers occur is?

While Don’t forget those fabulous Blue Angels precision Air show! When hopefully “The Bluest Skies You’ve ever Seen are in Seattle” won’t be obscured by Hazy Smoke from Forest Fires…

Texas Two Step...

The Ed Carpenter Racing Boys ‘N Girls busy making room for Boss Fast Eddie’s No. 33 entry for the upcoming Oval race. (The Tomaso Collection)

Time to Light this Candle! As the IndyCar season is truly set to Kickoff after a month’s respite. As Y’all Hard Core IndyCar Fans already know that Fast Eddie’, aka Ed Carpenter will make His season debut at Texas Motor Speedway. Seeing  ECR increase to three entries for All of this year’s Oval races.

Joining Carpenter in commencing His season is Takuma Sato, whose also running an Ovals Only programme this year. With the Affable Taku-san’ taking over the Chip Ganassi Racing’s No. 11 entry, that Sato’s sharing with rookie Marcus Armstrong this year.

Thus by my rudimentary ryth-muh-tick’, with the rest of the IndyCar Grid being unchanged, Thar will be a massive 28 Indy Cars competing at Texas this weekend…

LE MANS: Revised Entry list and Schedule announced

Ran across the following Racer article when perusing the Le Mans/WEC section recently, noting how the ACO still intends for a maximum of 62 entrants for this year's 88th running of the 24 Heurs du Mans. Yet with the likes of Corvette Racing and others pulling out from this year's rescheduled September 19-20 event, five Reserve entries have been elevated to race status...

INDYCAR: 2020 Season Calendar 3.0 Revisions Announced

I first read of the latest two NTT IndyCar Series Season Changes via Racer's Robin Miller yesterday, when he noted that Road America was slated to move from its current June 21st Date to Toronto's Cancelled July 12th Date, along with the Cancellation of Richmond's June 27th event.

And Kudos to IndyCar for announcing this today, since I thought they'd pull the usual Bury the Bad News Friday afternoon Press Release "Dump" instead...

Although the June 6th Texas Motor Speedway event still opens the stinted 2020 IndyCar season, the July 4th Indy GP now becomes the second event with Road America Hosting a Double Header event July 11-12 instead.

Meanwhile, although I first Heard 'bout it via For The Love of Indy's Raymond Hando awhile ago, the Racer article below reiterates my Governor Kate Brown's current Decree, that Oregon is Banning All large gatherings of More than 250 people thru the end of September, which will throw a Monkey-wrench in the intended Sept 13th Portland IndyCar race Date.

Yet I find it more telling that there's NO Mention of the currently scheduled Laguna Seca Sept 19-20 Double Header event in the updated calendar news, as I think California's also got a similar large Crowd Gathering Rule in place, also thru September? So Stayed Tuned for more potential IndyCar Schedule revisions...

Kyle Larson's Biggest Mistake!

OMG! Bring Us your Steering Wheel Kyle, You're Fired!

As Y'all know, I simply cannot keep up or try to - with the Nonstop 24/7 News Cycle 'O Motorsport, especially since Racing Never Sleeps; But I Digress...

Surely everybody knows by now of Kyle Larson's Gynormous Stupidity! For which I really cannot add anything that hasn't already been said, other than his actions were totally unwarranted, and probably Double since He should have been just providing some brief entertainment for Everybody currently languishing in thoust COVID 19 Pandemic Lockdown, especially on Easter Sunday! But at least CGR, NASCAR and Larson's Sponsor's are All taking the appropriate actions...

Kyle Larson Suspended Without Pay by Chip Ganassi Racing following Racial Outburst during Virtual Race

Update

First and Foremost, I am Absolutely in No way, shape or form condoning or excusing Kyle Larson's use of the N-Word during the Monza Madness virtual race which we All know has ultimately led to his Firing by Chip Ganassi Racing after almost everyone of his sponsors, beginning with McDonald's and Credit One walked away from Larson, which reportedly tied Cheeps' Hands into making the move.

Interestingly, Ganassi was rumoured to be expected to be engaged in a Bidding War presumably at season's end to retain Larson's services who was set to explore Free Agency.

Also according to a New York Times article I listened to via my NFB Newsline for The Blind telephone service, Kyle apparently had a reputation for being quite the Prankster, reportedly having once accused Hendricks Motorsports of Cheating and then recently having rubbed Chip the wrong way after making a video of him and Denny Hamlin colliding Shopping carts together in a Grocery store after the pair had tangled On-track, to which Ganassi said wasn't funny.

Thus one has to wonder if this was just convenient "cover" to Dump the Budding 27yr old NASCAR Star Driver in the current Economic Downturn the World's currently in?

As somehow I'm guessing that if Ross Chastain gets the ride whenever RASSCAR' returns to real Honest-to-Goodness On-track racing? His salary will be much lower than what Ganassi would have had to spend to keep Larson for 2021 and beyond...

But like I said, Kyle's choice of word was totally inappropriate, even if he thought he was just Joking around with his White Spotter, for which I've got zero clue if they're Friends, Buddy's or what?
