Viva la France

Shockingly it appears that Emperor Bernardo’s focus for the future of Formula 1 is hugely motivated towards profit making. With Messer E. giving Tony George and the USGP the boot. While San Marino has lost its Grand Prix. With rumours continuing over the future locale of the Australian event. Along with Bernardo huffing ‘N puffing over Magny Cours being scuttled from any future race dates.

Yet France is now back on the calendar for 2008 at Magny Cours after all. In another demonstration of strong arm tactics, Bernie the Muppet has coerced the French government into paying up massive amounts of Euros to keep the beleaguered French GP alive. After meeting with French Prime Minister Francois Fillon in Paris, a deal was struck to host a race in 2008 as well as 2009 if needed while trying to find a new more Bernie-esc suitable venue in the future.

Hmm? Although this is being touted as a political masterstroke by Fillon. One must wonder whose purse strings have been pulled. Or is this simply greasing the skids for Ecclestone’s desires to massively profit from selling off another piece of French property he currently owns. Can you say Paul Ricard? Err, Combien pour que gardent-nous notre Prix grand Bernie ?

Meanwhile the FIA has released its preliminary 2008 F1 Calendar with 18 events scheduled, as Ecclestone desires of a 20 race calendar reep closer to fruition.
