More Seafair Hydro thoughts...

Ever think that IndyCar has an identity crisis? ‘Whale then, if that’s true than I’m thinking that the H1 Unlimiteds must be the Rodney Dangerfield of Motorsports? As there appears to be almost zero media coverage of this sport, since I’ve heard/read nary a peep ‘bout the Unlimiteds until scouring Zed Internetz late Friday night after being unable to find out any news via my vaunted News-rag The Seattle Times...

Thus I wasn’t overly shocked to discover that once again the Jerky boat, thee U-1 Oh boy! Oberto with Steve David at the controls was fastest in damp ‘Qualie settings as it actually rained the majority of Friday here... But what did surprise me was that upon scrolling thru the qualifying results there wasn’t a peep about another Dave “the King” Villwock, who’s been thee King of Unlimiteds for what seems like the past decade; Hmm? What’s Kip Brown, thee more famous brother of Nate - inside Schumacher bros joke there... And NO! That’s not the late, great Billy Schumacher of Miss Bardahl fame; Hya! Think of Michael and Ralfanso...

Making me ponder what’s Kip doing in Villwock’s Steed? The Spirit of Qatar boat, which is now sporting the U-95 number instead of its traditional U-96, which I’m guessing is in deference to Villwock?

Thus a somewhat convoluted search upon Zed Internetz, have I told Y’all yet ‘bout my PAIN IN THEE CABOOSE Confuzer issues yet? Oh yeah, that’s coming up next; but I digress... And thus there it was, albeit it took me four websites to get any factual info, as the first had one of the diabolical talking videos which plays havoc upon ‘Lucy, my ARSE-steamed Screen Reader trying to read anythingy, as I’m hearing two-many voices in my head!

The Detroit News page refused to open and the KIRO7 News did tell me that he’d retired but just said it was on Tuesday; Uhm? Like which Tuesday? Which I still haven’t actually figured out when Villwock actually announced his  retirement, albeit I was finally able to spot the date of May 21st on Juan ‘O thee web pages visually - since due to the world of Confuzer coding Lucy doesn’t read ALL of the small print!

Yet thee “King” ‘O Hydros has definitely pulled the plug upon his unbelievable Unlimiteds career, going out on top a la Michael Schumacher  did, as Villwock has the most career victories with 67, five more than the Godfather of Hydros, the late Bill Muncey’s 62, while local boy Chip Hanauer ranks third overall with 61. As apparently I missed the news ‘Wayback in May since I was scrambling to get ready to fly off to Indianapolis for some ‘lil car race...

Thus, this unknown development makes me not wish to see the Jerky boat victorious at Seafair this Sunday, as I previously picked him ‘cause I was tired of Villwock winning every year! Thus I’m now pulling for relatively unknown Jimmy Shane in the U-5 Graham Trucking sled instead - who won his maiden ‘BIG BOAT race at Pasco, WA last year when David’s Oberto boat was disqualified for lane infraction; as we should know the outcome of today’s boat race by 5PM local time...
