It's Miller Time

OnThe Speed Report In typical fashion Robin Miller painted a “glass half full” picture of Champ Cars upcoming season. While the teams aren’t allowed to go testing until January when the new Panoz DP-01 is available, nevertheless several teams have been evaluating talent. Hence the current Champ Car drivers are on holiday while potential drivers test for potential team seats…
Miller noted how Newman/Haas Racing tested alone at Homestead in part to keep from revealing just how good 17 year old Graham Rahal really was. After matching times set by reigning Champ Car champion Sebastian Bourdais, Rahal set a new track record at Houston’s MSR last week.
While Forsythe and Mi-Jack continue evaluating potential drivers, Miller talked about the “new look” PKV team. Miller stated that Scuderia Toro Rosso’s test driver Neal Jani will definitely be one of the teams drivers next season. Jani will bring lots of Red Bull (money) with him. Miller said “I’m not making this up!” Jani’s teammate will be a 22 year old driver from Monaco named Clivio Piccione… Piccione has won a few British F3 races and also raced in GP2 this season…
With January just around the corner several current Champ Car drivers futures still remain clouded. It is unknown what the fate of Bruno Junqueira, Oriel Servia, Katherine Legge, Nelson Philippe and others are…
