Former Minardi F1 owner Paul Stoddart has bought a majority share holding of the CTE/HVM Champ Car team. It was announced today that the team will be renamed Minardi Team USA, with driver line-up and sponsors TBA. Stoddart will run a multi-car team next season, so look for Nelson Philippe, ”Speedy” Dan Clarke and Jos Verstappen behind the wheel…
Stoddart who was a very small “minnow” in the Formula 1 world eventually sold the Minardi team to Red Bull after 5 years of being a F1 Team Boss. Apparently Stoddart missed the smell of methanol in the morning too much and decided to try his hand at Champ Cars where he can possibly become a “Big Fish.” (In a much smaller pond)
It will be interesting to see if Stoddart’s fleet of F1 two seaters comes across the pond with him…
