Caterham to build Alpines and more...

This story caught my eye, originally noted by Grizzled ‘Journo Joe Saward, the Anglo-Malaysian Caterham concern of Tony Fernandes has announced a new partnership arrangement with Renault automobiles to jointly produce a range of Alpine Sports Cars.

This just seems like another shrewd move by Messer Fernandes, as it potentially gives him access to both of the Renault and Nissan parts bins plus could help establish further business opportunities? Ah, and to think Lotus Cars could have gotten the Midas touch instead, eh?


Meanwhile on the heels of the news of the new Caterham-Alpine alliance, Messer Fernandes first announced he was stepping down as Caterham F1 Team Principal and then subsequently announced that the relatively new team CEO, 35yr old Frenchman Cyril Abiteboul would become the new Team Principal effective immediately...
