He’s Winning the Race...

Cannot exactly say why, but this song has been running in my head all day long - flooding my thoughts while watching the Friday F1 Free Practice session from Shanghai - while listening to A-L-L of the banter over Master ‘Zebb’s infallible Multi-21 Cock Up at Malaysia...

“He's going the distance
He's going for speed

As they speed through the finish, the flags go down
The fans get up and they get out of town
The arena is empty except for one man
Still driving and striving as fast as he can
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up
And long ago somebody left with the cup
But he's driving and striving and hugging the turns
And thinking of someone for whom he still burns

Because he's racing and pacing and plotting the course
He's fighting and biting and riding on his horse
He's going the distance
No trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no wine
He's haunted by something he cannot define
Bowel-shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse
Assail him, impale him with monster-truck force
In his mind, he's still driving, still making the grade”

Because He's going the distance
He's going for speed
Move over Webber
And let ME lead!
(Song Lyrics from The Distance by Cake)

As all I could think of during the show was how I believe that Vettel’s favourite TV Show growing up was Hogan’s Heroes and his favourite character was Sergeant Schulz, Y’all know: I KNOW NOTHING! I see nothing; hear nothing Yada-yada-yada...

And what is this Multi-21 Sebastian? We Have Ways of Making You Talk... Huh? Is there a race going on this weekend? Oh Never Mind!

  1. Ha! Vettel certainly knows nothing. Have to respect him as a great driver, for his results are spectacular (and it's not all car either). But, he's still young. While it might not happen in China due to Q2 problems, I am hoping Webber out-performs him over the next couple of races. Karma.
