Mika retires (Again)

Mercedes Benz held their yearly “Stars ‘N Cars” season ending event this past weekend. With the 13th annual extravaganza being held at the factory museum in Stugart,

With both road and racing cars on hand, the show included a temporary circuit being set up for demonstration laps, along with pit stop competitions.

While both current McLaren drivers were scheduled to attend along with various DTM drivers, Mika Hakkinen tooled around the course in his McLaren MP4/13 in which he won his first World Championship in 1998, before taking part in the autograph session

The event served as the perfect backdrop for the former double World Champion to make his announcement of his plans to retire from motor racing.

After three seasons in the DTM (2005-07) which saw him net three victories for Mercedes Benz, Hakkinen has decided to hang up his helmet permanently at the age of 39. Yet the Finn plans to continue his long-time association with Mercedes and said an announcement of his plans would follow shortly…
