Nicky Hayden seriously Injured in Training Accident

I first heard news of the "Kentucky Kid's" bicycling accident Wednesday via Reuters, during my evening's Nightly News Trawl via my NFB Newsline for The Blind telephone service, for which the story was just breaking, since the incident occurred in Italy.

Yet Thursday's updated story doesn't sound good for 35yr old Nicky, (Hayden) the 2006 MotoGP champion, who's apparently suffered chest and head injuries after being struck by a car whilst bicycle training in eastern Italy, near Rimini, before being transferred to Hospital.

As the following update has been released by Red Bull Honda World Superbike, (WSBK) which Hayden's in his second season of contesting the series for Honda, following his MotoGP career between 2003 to 2015.

"Hayden has suffered a 'serious polytrauma with subsequent serious cerebral damage'. His condition remains 'extremely critical'. He has now been joined by his family.
'Below is a statement on Nicky's condition from the Maurizio Bufalini Hospital in Cesena, Italy. “Nicky Hayden's clinical condition remains extremely critical.

"The young man, who is still in the intensive care unit of Cesena's Bufalini hospital, has suffered a serious polytrauma with subsequent serious cerebral damage.

"The prognosis remains reserved."

As reports claim that Hayden's been placed in a medically induced coma, which naturally, hopefully will be short-lived and Nicky will make a full recovery quickly!
