Justin Wilson: 1978-2015

Long cherished Autographed "Hero Card" of Justin Wilson's obtained during the '06 Seattle Roadster Show. (The Tomaso Collection)
FUCK!

That's what I SCREAMED when listening to the news via Curt Cavin's Indianapolis Star report via my NFB Newsline for The Blind telephone news service this evening!

Did I know Justin personally? NO! But like everything I'm reading - He made me feel special, like he cared about our 5+ minute conversation I got to have with him alone at the Seattle Roadster Show 'Wayback 9yrs ago...

As he was warm, outgoing and charming, eagerly shaking my hand and making me genuinely feel important! As yeah, I know he was there solely trying to "Pump Up" Champ Car's flagging fortunes, as part of a most unusual PR obligation to promote the forthcoming Portland International Raceways event - where NOBODY knew who this ex-Formula 1 driver was...

Yet nevertheless, he made me feel very special on that Spring day in March, 2006 - making me a Fan of his for life. A trait I know he did for countless Fans worldwide!

As Justin was always more than accommodating, as he politely obliged CARPETS' request for his "John Hancock" for Mwah at one of his countless visits to McGilveries for Don Kay's Autosport Radio Show - as I'm happy my final memory will be seeing him appropriately in the Rolling Stones car at Mother Speedway this past Carb Day...

As I know the show must go on, but now I'm really happy I won't be attending this year's race at Sonoma. As suddenly, it really doesn't seem to matter right now! Especially whatever I care to scribble 'bout...

Thank You Justin  for being such a BAD ARSE Racing Driver, always positive, polite, charming & humble, devoted and a wonderful Human Being!
