DAKAR 2020 Rally Notes



In the Desert, Everybody's Equal...

Ah, Y'all know what happens when thoust Arse-sumes', Righto? As that NBC Sports Announcer sure Doesn't sound like he's got an Aussie' accent! Nope that Ain't Leigh Diffey, Thee voice 'O IndyCar's, but instead this year NBCSN has "volunteered" Part Time Roundy Round' Driver Parker Kligerman to do the Talkin' instead during its Daily 30mins TV vignettes.

Also, this year's Bikes' category sees 5 Yanks' taking part, led by Hondres' Ricky Brabec, who along with HRC (Honda Racing Company) hopes to end KTM's Stranglehold upon the Dakar, having won the event 18 Straight and Counting!

And although it's early Days indeedy', nonetheless Brabec won Stage-3 and vaulted into the Overall lead, albeit Thars' 9 Stages remaining...

Meanwhile, guessin' you've already heard the News over Fernando Alonso's Stage-2 Mishap, when the Rookie Hit a Rock and Toasted one of his front Wheels!

As where else can Yuhs witness a former Two-times Formula 1 World Champion lying down in the sand on his Backside underneath a PickemUp' Truck Bashing his Knuckles with a wrench and repairing his own racing vehicle? Only in Thee Dakar!

As Alonso, who claimed he never saw what he Hit, since they'd been traveling in a virtual Dust-out' forever! Along with his Co-driver; Err Navigator Marc Comas, former Five-times Dakar Bikes' winner lost some Two and One-half hours making repairs to Thar toy-Yoter', including cutting the Front Brake-lines before limping home to continue their Rally! Albeit Dropping Down to 48th Overall in the Cars category...


Impressively, Alonso roared back in Stage-3, finishing 4th, ahead of such luminaries as "Mr. Dakar," aka Stephan Peterhansel,who had Navigational difficulties. And vaulted up to 32nd Overall...
